  4. pURLid

pURLid is a superior system to OpenID and has many more benefits to the end-user least of which is total security and control of the ID.

We have a patent pending for our invention but are offering it to the community (and OpenID) for free.

We have repeatedly contacted the OpenID team but are being ignored. Why?

We are now challenging OpenID to a live debate upon which solution provides the greatest benefits to the end-user.

  6. Using Open ID with corporate business

When opening an account, whether it is for buying a car, applying for a loan, opening a new cell phone contract, you always have to complete several forms. In addition to this, you also have to provide proof of employment, proof of residence and other contact details.
My idea is to introduce OpenID to corporate businesses. They can have an internet based application (customised for their purposes) whereby clients provide them with the identity number, social security number, or any other form of identification. The corporate business then requests through their application the client’s details from OpenID. OpenID sends a…

  7. Provide a logout ability or only authenticate with provider

This is one of the major security flaws I have found in the OpenID platform. Users are not properly informed that they are (not with all providers) being logged into their OpenID providers site as well.

The session for the site they originally logged into is controlled separately from the provider. This leaves their main account open to be abused.

  9. Open ID Login URL? - Not clear on website

I was exploring the features and benefits of the "Intense Debate" plugin for Wordpress, and was prompted to sign into Open ID by providing my Open ID URL.

I have a Google Account, but have never been directly asked for my Open ID account. This lead me to the Open ID website, at which point I thought the information would be clearly indicated on the "Get an Open ID" or "start using your Open ID" page. Instead, it was a bunch irrelevant information about how I already have an account, with links to useless links like Google and Yahoo's landing…

This is a fair criticism and something that we want to address as we continue to make improvements to our newly relaunched website. It has a long way to go still, and this kind of feedback is very helpful in directing our attention. Thanks — and sorry to hear about your frustration.

  13. Why not translate openid.net for hundreds of languages?

The OpenId.net, only in English, not is soooo open. To have a real global range it's need to be translated for many others languages.

  14. Recognize sites that both provide and accept OpenID

Recognize sites that are both APs and RPs by creating some sort of official designation for those sites that do this. It is good for OpenID if sites both accept and provide OpenID because users can eliminate credentials in more sites and are free to choose which provider they want to use for their credentials and are free to move them at will.

  15. identifier in email like format

    Instead of identifying myself with:
    http://example.net/john-doe

    I would prefer:
    john-doe@example.net

We could have a standard approach where identifier@domain translates to http://domain/identifier

I think it would give OpenID more human friendly feel than using URL format.

There should be an openId link to make changes to your personal information,or to update your account, and profile when necessary. I should be able to change whatever information I do not want to display at random.

  17. Providers should allow others providers OpenID to be used on their sites

As an example, I've registered with google gmail, so I have an OpenId account from google. Let say I want a Yahoo email account, and I want to use my OpenId from gmail, well I don't see any option for that from yahoo.

Some providers give the option to use existing OpenID but hidden in very small print. Competition I guess.

All these defeat the simplicity mention by openid in the first place.

  19. Provide an automatic validation service

My OpenID server is accepted by some Websites but not by others. You should provide an automatic validation tool that tests Websites that use OpenID as well as OpenID servers (providers) for correctness.
